USIS to Celebrate 15 Years as Private-sector Company

USIS' Bill Mixon

USIS, an Altegrity company, will be celebrating Friday its 15-year anniversary as a private-sector company. To honor the event, USIS will be hosting a Company and Employee Day of Commemoration and Recognition at the location of the company’s first headquarters in Western Pennsylvania.

Altegrity CEO Michael Cherkasky and USIS President and CEO Bill Mixon will attend and speak at the ceremony.

“The commemoration of USIS’ 15th anniversary provides an opportunity to link the business’ historic past as the first, and arguably most successful, federal agency privatization with the overall corporation’s current success and our plans for continued growth,” Mixon said. “Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of our employees over the past 15 years, USIS has become the nation’s largest provider of investigation services to the federal government. Our former and current employees should be extremely proud of what we have accomplished as a business.”

Tom Ridge, the first secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. Ridge is the twice-elected governor of Pennsylvania and now president and CEO of Ridge Global.

USIS was started following the privatization of the federal agency of the Office of Personnel Management in 1996. The company began its operations in Western Pennsylvania out of a converted limestone mine. USIS began with 650 employees, and 100 of those employees are still with the company today.

The Western Pennsylvania location, where the event will be held, is still home to its largest concentration of employees. The Company and Employee Day of Commemoration and Recognition will be held at Grove City College’s J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center in Grove City, Pa., July 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
