Facebook Enhances Mobile Security - top government contractors - best government contracting eventFacebook announced yesterday that it is currently working on strengthening its mobile security by introducing two new features that are currently only available online — social reporting and the ability to reset passwords.

According to a new note on the Facebook Security page, engineers have been testing social reporting on Facebook’s mobile site and expect it to be added to mobile devices over the next few months. Social reporting is a tool that allows users to resolve issues with posts, profiles or other content on the site through communication with the person who posted it.

“For example, if you don't like a photo of yourself that someone uploaded, you can use social reporting to ask that person to take it down,” stated Facebook on its security page. “The response to these changes has been great and almost 70 percent of reported photos get removed by the owner.”

Facebook engineers are also testing improvements to mobile password reset options. “You can now choose the email address where you want to receive recovery links, and we are offering additional ways to confirm your identity,” the site said. This feature will roll out slowly to allow for feedback from mobile users.
