KBR recently announced it was awarded a contract Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. to provide license and engineering design services for JAL's brownfield 2,200 metric tons per day ammonia plant in Kanpur, India.
“KBR is pleased to support the Jaypee Group expansion into the fertilization market,“ said John Derbyshire, president of Technology. “I am confident that KBR's Purifier technology will set the foundation for an extremely reliable, robust, low-energy facility to help our client to successfully enter the industry.“
KBR said its Purifier technology provides the lowest energy consumption as compared to other technology offerings in the market and that the design will enable JAL to build the ammonia unit with lower energy consumption and reduced capital costs.
