Use of vRanger and Quantum DXi-Series de-duplication appliances enhance backup and recovery performance while significantly reducing storage requirements.
According to Quest, with VMware virtual server environments growing and budgets shrinking, vRanger with Quantum DXi-Series will provide customers with a cost-effective solution. This solution reduces disk storage space needed for backup files.
“The growth in VMware virtual environments plus the exploding volume of corporate data ““ more and more of which is now classified as mission-critical ““ present a significant challenge to maintaining high availability and disaster recovery processes, especially on reduced budgets,” said John Maxwell, vice president, data protection product management, Quest Software.
The use of vRanger with Quantum DXi-Series provides scalable, fast backup and recovery processes. vRanger quickly scans block maps to back up only the changed blocks, significantly reducing job windows and the amount of data transferred to a Quantum DXi de-duplication appliance.
“Certifying our market-leading VMware backup software on Quantum DXi systems allows Quest to offer a holistic VMware data protection strategy designed to meet today“™s most pressing customer challenges,“ said Maxwell.
Quantum DXi systems allow vRanger customers to automate backups across multiple sites and devices with significantly less network traffic over the WAN, reducing WAN bandwidth requirements by 90 percent or more.
