Northrop Grumman Corporation starts it’s green commitment at home by renovating its corporate headquarters building to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Commercial Interiors Gold level requirements.
“The company launched its building renovation with a comprehensive approach to sustainability, from energy efficiencies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, to the installation of comprehensive water and waste reduction technologies,” said Gloria Flach, corporate vice president and president Enterprise Shared Services, the Northrop Grumman organization responsible for overseeing the renovation project.
The building design includes American-made, high-efficiency cooling and heating equipment and automated operational controls which will maximize efficiency and reduce environmental energy by use as much as 30 percent.
Additionally, Northrop’s design includes a lighting control system and efficient lighting reducing energy consumption by 15 percent, plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption by over 35 percent and use of recycled and locally manufactured materials.
The changes at home demonstrate execution of the greeNG program attempting to reduce Northrop Grumman’s environmental footprint.
