URS Corporation’s URS Apptis obtained Authority to Operate for its FedCloud.com service portal to the U.S. Government allowing government agencies to easily purchase cloud computing infrastructure using a Blanket Purchase Agreement for IaaS from GSA.
URS was granted the ATO after FedCloud.com met government security requirements and completed the Assessment and Authorization process in accord with the Federal Information Security Management Act moderate security level.
“Government agencies now can fully reap the benefits of cloud computing““ including the ability to ramp-up or scale-down resources as needed while paying only for what is used,” Randall A. Wotring, President of Federal Services for URS. “This is crucial to enabling the government to better serve the American people and takes the ‘Cloud First‘ policy to a new level.”
FedCloud.com is a portal accessible only to federal, local or state government agencies and their government contractors authorized for purchasing from GSA Schedules for cloud computing infrastructure requirements. Built on Amazon Web Services infrastructure technology platform and available on eBuy programs or Apps.gov, FedCloud.com enables visibility into machine status, service usage, service availability and system performance.
