KBR to Lead Australian Port Project - top government contractors - best government contracting eventKBR recently announced it was selected by the Seymour Whyte Smithbridge Joint Venture to be a principal consultant and deliver the Townsville Port Inner Harbour Expansion project for Port of Townsville Limited. The Townsville Port is the third-largest multi-commodity port in Queensland, Australia.

The firm will also provide design engineering, construction support and certification services. KBR will work to expand and strengthen Berth 8 to facilitate bulk loading of material mineral concentrates and fertilizers, while allowing for the work associated with future materials handling infrastructure.

“We are pleased to have been selected for the TPIX project, identified by the Queensland Government as critical to the area's future economic growth, and look forward to applying our multidisciplinary project expertise for a successful expansion,“ said Colin Elliott, KBR Infrastructure and Minerals' president.
