Symantec's AdVantage Helps Online Publishers Avoid Malvertising - top government contractors - best government contracting eventSymantec Corp. has announced that its new cloud-based service, Symantec AdVantage, enables website owners to identify malicious software hidden in online advertisements.

Offered in partnership with Armorize Technologies, the solution uses the latest malware detection techniques so website owners can quickly find malvertising threats. AdVantage will be available to publishers and ad networks through a free early access program this November.

“Malvertising poses a serious risk to online publishers and their customers, reputation and revenue,” said Fran Rosch, vice president of identity and authentication services for Symantec. “Highly publicized malvertising infections can damage the reputation of even the most trusted online sites. Symantec AdVantage will provide ad publishers the tools they need to protect their businesses.”

Malvertising occurs when cyber criminals hack into websites to inject malware into banner ads, if website owners unwittingly distribute malware after a network has been compromised or if cyber criminals pose as advertisers. AdVantage will scan and report malvertising and automatically alert publishers so that ads may be removed.
