Unisys Corp. has won a 10-year contract to migrate 5,000 Energy Department lab employees to a cloud-based e-mail and collaboration solution.
The company will enable Idaho laboratory employees to utilize Google apps for government, a cloud platform designed to allow employees to share information technology infrastructure and resources, according to an Oct. 25 Unisys announcement.
In July, Unisys successfully completed its migration of the U.S. General Services Administration to Google apps for government. It will also partner with Earth Resources Technology on a June contract to migrate the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to the same platform.
The solution also will provide secure access to e-mail and data at reduced operational costs, allowing lab employees to work more efficiently with improved system uptime and availability, the announcement said.
Once the implementation phase is complete, Unisys will continue to provide operations and maintenance of the cloud-based environment.
