AT&T, Calgary Scientific Team in Effort to Allow Healthcare Providers to View Medical Images Remotely

AT&T and Calgary Scientific Inc. are teaming up to combine solutions with the hope of offering physicians a way to quickly access and interact with patient images and reports within any facility, according to a recent AT&T report.

“Demand for access to current and prior patient images along with radiology reports is growing at a very high rate,” says Randy Rountree, executive vice president of global sales and marketing for Calgary Scientific, Inc.

The solution will combine Calgary’s ResolutionMD with AT&T’s medical imaging and information management solution.

Resolution MD is a cloud-based application that can extend access to tablets or smartphones and has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration as a mobile diagnostic viewer. The two hope to make the solution available in the first half of 2012.

“We’re using the power of our network-based cloud to improve patient care, bringing patients’ medical images rapidly to clinicians’ smartphones or tablets so they can make a timely diagnosis,” said Randall Porter, assistant vice president of AT&T ForHealth.
