The United Kingdom Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has named the joint venture between Babcock, CH2M HILL and URS, “Babcock Dounreay Partnership” (BDP), a preferred bidder in the acquisition process of Dounreay Site Restoration Limited, the largest nuclear decommissioning project in Scotland.
The formal contract will be awarded on April 2,2012, according to CH2M HILL. If successful, BDP will acquire the site license through share transfers.
For now, the companies competing are in a mandatory 10-day standstill period to be followed by a three-month transitional phase where contract finalization will take place.
“BDP’s selection as preferred bidder is a fantastic achievement for CH2M HILL,” said CH2M HILL Nuclear Business Group President, Mark Fallon. “We look forward to working with our partners, the DSRL workforce, and the Caithness community to achieve an interim end state safely and cost effectively.”
