MAXIMUS announced today it has signed a contract worth $11.9 million with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to provide enrollment broker services for the state's BAYOU HEALTH Medicaid managed care program.

Under the three-year contract, MAXIMUS will provide choice counseling and enrollment services to members of the state's five health managed care plans.

The company said close to 900,000 of the state’s Medcaid and LaCHIP recipients will transfer to BAYOU HEALTH at some point in the future.

Alongside a state effort to increase public knowledge of the program, Maximus will provide general information for current and potential members through an enrollment center.

The company will also develop and distribute communication materials and provide members with self-service options via a Web portal and interactive voice response system.

Bruce Caswell, president and general manager of MAXIMUS Health Services indicated that the company looks, “forward to providing optimal levels of customer service while working in partnership with the state to improve access to coordinated health care for individuals across Louisiana.“
