Harris to Mentor Software Developer, Pursue DHS Contracts - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Department of Homeland Security has approved Harris Corp.‘s proposed mentor-protégé agreement with Unissant, Inc., a Reston, Va.-based software development and consulting company.

The two will enter a three-year program through which Harris will help Unissant compete for contracts and other opportunities with the DHS.

Harris also hopes to build on the partnership to become more competitive for DHS awards and improve its performance of DHS contract work, said John Heller, president of Harris IT services.

The program includes acquisition process training and aims for Unissant to achieve Capability Maturity Model Integration Level 4 and Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification.

The program is designed to encourage large, prime contractors to develop and mature small businesses’ capabilities in order to better pursue contracts, according to Harris’ announcement.
