ONC Creates Dashboard to Evaluate Transition to Digital Health Records - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is working to develop a dashboard to help assess and aid with moving health records to the digital realm.

In a Dec. 21 announcement, ONC said the dashboard will create datasets used to assess, improve and publicize performance information regarding ONC health IT grants given to states and state-designated entities.

The ONC and its partners will use the data to evaluate how parties receiving electronic health record assistance from ONC implement health IT.

Parties that have received health IT grants fall in both the public and private sectors and include health care providers, community colleges, and state-designed entities.

The system will house data such as demographic records, contact information, national provider identifier numbers and health IT performance.

Federal agencies are required to publish a notice when they create a new records system containing sensitive information covered under the Privacy Act. Agencies must also explain how they plan to protect that information.

ONC said the record system will not contain patient data, and plans to protect physician information by limiting the number of researchers that have access to the data.
