The work is meant to reduce structural infrastructure requirements for the network, which supports 5,400 users and five campuses.
It is also intended to provide on-campus personnel the ability to build private virtualized environments
“The DoD is constantly looking for ways to improve its operational effectiveness while decreasing its total cost of ownership,” said Mike Lee, chief operating officer at TWD.
“With the current economic situation and the recent news of significant cuts to the DoD budget, (broaden[ing] the transport capabilities for increased agility and responsiveness across the agency campus) has never been more important.”
Lee indicated the company has supported Pentagon agencies for 20 years.
