A Lockheed Martin–Northrop Grumman joint venture delivered a data link system for unmanned aerial systems to the Army, the companies announced Tuesday.
Longbow delivered the first production of the Unmanned Aerial Systems Tactical Common Data Link Assembly for Apache helicopters.
Longbow President Mike Taylor said the delivery culminates nearly six years of design and development work.
Longbow said the company has started low-rate initial production to install the system on the Apache helicopters.
The company expects to equip the helicopters with the data link this year.
The data link is intended to give Apache aircrews control of UAS sensors and flight paths.
