Lockheed to Study, Analyze Navy Combat Ship Engineering - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin Corp. won a $33,649,198 Navy contract modification to conduct special studies and analysis for a combat ship program program, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The Bethesda, Md.-based contractor will review and assess the Littoral Combat Ship program’s engineering and production challenges.

The company will also provide schedule-risk and cost evaluations related to affordability and lifecycle cost reduction.

The company is building 10 ships for the LCS program under a $437 million contract awarded in December 2010.

Work under the modification occur in Hampton, Va., Marinette, Wis., Moorestown, N.J. and Washington.

The Pentagon expects work to finish by April 2013.

The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington is the contracting activity.
