The Defense Information Systems Agency is set to integrate health records systems of the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, according to Federal News Radio.

In January, the VA said in January it would move its EHR system on DISA-hosted data centers starting in March.

VA Chief Information Officer Roger Baker told Federal News Radio it seemed logical to co-locate the systems in order to integrate Pentagon and VA health record systems.

Baker said the agency plans to move 72 of its health systems to DISA data centers, with one such move coming this spring.

DISA is also looking to update its software for some 360,000 desktops and some 17,000 servers.

Baker said the VA issued a request for information for software alternatives to ensure the agency is best serving veterans.

The agency also sought information for how it could move its telephone infrastructure into cloud computing on Dec. 23, 2011.
