General Dynamics Names Kevin Poitras Electric Boat President

General Dynamics has promoted Kevin Poitras to president of the company’s Electric Boat subsidiary, effective May 2, the company announced Wednesday.

The nearly four-decade Electric Boat veteran will succeed John Casey, who was promoted to executive vice president of the company’s marine systems group (for more on Casey’s promotion click over to GovCon Wire).

Poitras previously served as vice president of engineering, design and business development for the Groton, Conn.-based submarine maker.

He assumed that position in September 2010 after serving nearly six years as president of engineering and design programs.

The Falls Church, Va.-based contractor said he held increasingly responsible positions within Electric Boat’s engineering and operations departments since joining the firm in 1973 as a construction support engineer.
