General Dynamics To Develop Army Joint Assault Bridge - top government contractors - best government contracting eventGeneral Dynamics' land systems business unit will develop two Joint Assault Bridge prototypes for the U.S. Army, the company announced Wednesday.

The company received a $26 million contract to deliver JAB prototypes and test support packages to the Army’s testing center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

According to the company, the JAB program aims to introduce a deployable portable bridge that lets military vehicles cross gaps.

Work will occur in Sterling Heights, Mich. and the company expects to finish work by August 2014.

The company recently named James Norton a vice president of business development within its C4 systems unit, where he will work directly with the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice and Transportation.
