Doug Bourgeois is vice president and federal chief cloud executive at VMware, where he leads the development and execution of VMware's federal cloud computing strategy.
His team helps defense, civilian, intelligence and systems integration customers use virtualization to drive adoption of cloud computing, according to the company.
Prior to joining VMware in April 2010, Bourgeois served as director of the U.S. Interior Department’s national business center. He managed nearly 2,000 Interior employees and contractors in 24 states to deliver government-wide payroll, human resources, financial and contract management and information technology solutions. He is credited with equipping the Interior with updated cloud computing services.
Bourgeois has also served as chief information officer at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and held a variety of executive positions at FedEx, including managing director of global customer service technology.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Cal Poly University and his M.B.A. in finance from Tulane University.
