Ray Whitehead currently serves as vice president of business development and strategic planning for General Dynamics‘ information technology business unit, where he manages day-to-day operations including mergers and acquisitions, business development marketing and communications support systems for the company.
Whitehead was previously vice president of the company’s network systems unit, which merged with Anteon International in June 2006 to form GDIT.
At GDNS, he led automated sales support development, managed public affairs and the company credits him with helping to acquire four IT services companies.
Before entering the private sector, Whitehead served in the U.S. Army, where he led various armor units around the globe and was also Army spokesperson at the Pentagon, supporting communications and media relations for operations in Haiti, Rwanda, Kuwait and Bosnia. He also served as editor-in-chief of Soldier’s magazine, the Army’s monthly feature magazine.
He is a member of TechAmerica’s public sector board of directors and also participates in the Professional Services Council, the Navy League and the Association of the United States Army.
The retired armor officer earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Tennessee and his master’s in degree business from Webster University.
