GOP Lawmakers Intro Updated Cyber Info Sharing Bill - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA group of Republican senators has introduced an updated version of a bill intended to clarify how businesses and the government would share cyber information, The Hill newspaper reports.

Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) and others proposed the Secure IT Act, which defines cyber threat information and creates oversight authorities, they said.

Hutchison said in a statement the bill also includes new requirements for government contractors to notify their agencies of cyberattacks to their systems, Brendan Sasso reported.

This bill does not give the government any power to set mandatory security standards for critical infrastructure systems, according to the report.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Dan Coats (R-Ind.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) are co-sponsors of the updated bill.
