Raytheon To Test, Update Navy Multi-Spectral Sensor System - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRaytheon has won an estimated $22 million contract to test and upgrade a sensor system for the Navy, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The AN/AAS-44 Multi-spectral Targeting System-A/B is located at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in Jacksonville, Fla.

MTS systems provide aerial platforms with an electro-optical and infrared full-motion video camera system for surveillance, acquisition, tracking and laser designation, according to Raytheon’s website.

Both manned and unmanned aerial systems, including the C-130 and MH-60 helicopter, use the systems.

Seventy percent of the work will occur in McKinney, Texas and Jacksonville, with the rest occurring in El Segundo, Calif.

The Pentagon expects work to finish by June 2014 and the Naval Supply Systems Command’s fleet logistics center in Jacksonville is the contracting activity.
