Richmond, Hawaii To Host DoD-VA Health Records Test; Karen Guice Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs will start testing components of their integrated electronic health record system in October, Federal Times reports.

DoD houses testing facilities in Richmond, Va. and Hawaii’s Maui island, where the departments and contractors will test how legacy systems interact with new components of the iEHR system.

The VA uses Vista and DoD uses AHLTA legacy systems, Nicole Blake Johnson reported.

Karen Guice, the Military Health System’s chief information officer, said the departments need to ensure something does not break before the system’s scheduled initial deployment for 2014. facility will ensure the iEHR will be delivered on time.

The system is scheduled for full deployment in 2017 and will cost nearly $4 billion, according to the report.
