Serco Inc., the British contractor’s U.S. division, has won a potential $57 million contract to help the U.S. military close bases and transfer personnel in Afghanistan.
The company said Monday it will hire more than 70 new employees to support the contract, with has a base year and two option years.
Base closure assistance teams will organize, coordinate and help military units redeploy service members affected by the base closures and transfers.
The company also provided similar teams in Iraq, helping military and base commanders close and return coalition bases to the Iraqi government and to local landowners.
