The waveform was developed for the Defense Department’s Joint Tactical Radio System program to provide warfighters ad-hoc voice, data and networking in the field.
This is the first NSA Type-1 certified implementation of the JTRS Soldier Radio Waveform, said Dana Mehnert, RF communications group president.
Mehnert added in a release the waveform is also designed to be interoperable with current radios and compatible with future radios.
Harris invested its own funds to port and integrate the waveform for fielding through a JTRS enterprise business model in coordination with the program’s network enterprise domain.
According to the company, companies use the model to invest their own capital and develop new communications technologies for integrating waveform software.
