Lockheed Wins NASA Spaceflight Hardware, Software Option - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has received a $80.5 million flex option from NASA to continue work under the agency’s Facilities Development and Operations contract, NASA announced Tuesday.

That contract“™s performance period is from Jan. 1, 2009 to Sept. 30, 2013 with work occurring at or near the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

NASA said it exercised the option to take advantage of hours that were negotiated for the contract award in 2009 and increase the ceiling for the base contract to an undisclosed amount.

The company provides software, hardware, data and display system support to help prepare and carry out human spaceflight missions.

Lockheed also provides managerial, technical and administrative services to support operation facilities such as the Jake Garn Mission Simulator and Training facility and the Christopher C. Kraft Mission Control Center at Johnson.
