SAIC Inc. will provide the U.S. Army research, development and testing for one of the branch’s geospatial programs, the Defense Department announced Friday.

According to the Army, the Geospatial Research, Integration, Development and Support II — or GRIDS II— program requires a contractor to help the Army identify and address gaps in geospatial science and technologies.

The Army also wants the vendor to have experience in integrating, executing and transitioning C4ISR concepts, processes and architectures.

SAIC will perform work in both McLean and Alexandria, Va. through Aug. 12, 2017.

The company is also working with the Air Force to conduct research and development work on laser radars and sensors that use laser technology.
