Cisco Systems has appointed Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff and former Energy Under Secretary Kristina Johnson to the board of directors, Cisco announced Thursday.
The appointments are effective Aug. 12and increase the number of directors from 12 to 14.
Benioff founded Salesforce in 1999 and has served as board chairman since then, before elevating to CEO in 2001.
Before founding the company, he spent three decades in the software industry including 13 years at Oracle.
Johnson currently serves as CEO of Enduring Hydro,a clean energy development and consulting company.
According to Cisco, she managed a $10.5 billion energy and environment portfolio as energy under secretary and holds 45 patents.
She also served at John Hopkins University as a senior vice president and Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering as dean and is a recipient of the John Fritz Medal.
