DARPA Holding Cyber Offense 'Plan X' Workshops with Contractors, Researchers - top government contractors - best government contracting eventCiting an overwhelming response from contractors and researchers, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has rescheduled workshops on the agency’s plan to develop offensive cyber capabilities, Nextgov reports.

Originally scheduled for Sept. 27, DARPA will now hold the “Plan X” sessions Oct. 15 and 16, Dawn Lim reports.

The agency will hold two sessions with contractors and researchers, one classified and one non-classified, with the second day set to be a repeat of the first day for remaining attendees.

Under Plan X, the Pentagon intends to deploy a computer architecture that can both adaptively defend against an attack monitor damage from cyber attacks in an active environment, according to the report.

Citing a contracting notice, Lim reports the architecture could also feature weapon deployment, with the architecture potentially providing a future framework for deploying malware or other tools against vulnerabilities.

A request for proposals could be published in October, according to Nextgov.
