SAP is changing its cloud strategy, starting with $8 billion in investments in cloud computing firms like SuccessFactors and Ariba, Business Insider reports.

SAP Vice President of Strategy for the Cloud, Sven Denecken, said that SAP’s acquisition strategy is “all about speed and not consolidation.”

This year alone, SAP  acquired SuccessFactors for $3.4 billion and Ariba for $4.3 billion.

Denecken said there are 4,5000 employees working in SAP’s Cloud business unit and another 2,400 are expected to join the company once the acquisition of Ariba is completed.

SuccessFactors’ CEO Lars Dalgaard is the new chief of SAP’s cloud business unit.

Denecken said one of the key changes in SAP’s cloud strategy include organizational changes.

Business Insider reports that SAP currently has 15 million SuccessFactors users and two million users on its Business ByDesign and NetWeaver Cloud Portal.
