The USO of Metropolitan Washington recognized DynCorp International, Verizon and Science Applications International Corp. with a 2012 Circle of the Stars Award at the USO’s Stars and Stripes Night held Thursday.

During the ceremony at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel, DynCorp was named to the USO’s Four-Star level, the highest honor bestowed by the organization, according to a company release.
SAIC said it was added to the One-Star level and recognized as a top corporate donor, while Verizon said it was named to the circle for the second consecutive year.
“Everywhere the men and women of our military need support, the USO is there,” said DynCorp Chairman and Steve Gaffney. “We feel honored to be able to do our part to support their important work.”
“Verizon shares in the commitment of USO-Metro, and our support of the airport lounges and complimentary communications services to keep families connected is a small token of appreciation for the courageous efforts of those who serve in the U.S. military,” said Susan Zeleniak, senior vice president for public sector markets at Verizon Enterprise Solutions.

“Supporting active duty and retired service members, as well as their families, is a priority for SAIC, said Doug Wagoner, an SAIC SVP. “We’re thrilled that our commitment to the troops has been recognized by such a prestigious organization.”
Verizon provides financial support for USO lounges at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Reagan National Airport, Dulles International Airport and Joint Base Andrews.
