BAE-Northrop Team Releases New Army Ground Vehicle Design - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBAE Systems has released an infographic outlining the features of a ground combat vehicle, designed through a joint venture between BAE, Northrop Grumman and other partners.

According to DefenceTalk, the vehicle proposal is part of the U.S. Army’s competition to replace the Bradley fighting vehicle which has been in service since 1981.

BAE says the ground combat vehicle carries three crew and nine squad members in the vehicle’s steel core hull, an electronic network capability and embedded equipment for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

The vehicle is also propelled by a hybrid electric drive and uses 1,100 kilowatts of electricity.

According to the company, the vehicle weighs 70 tons, uses 4.61 gallons of fuel per hour while idling and has a top speed of 43 miles per hour.
