Carahsoft to Provide Agencies Splunk's Big Data Mgmt Software; Craig Abod Comments

Craig Abod

Carahsoft is partnering with a machine data software provider to provide government agencies the software for organizing and analyzing data, according to a Wednesday announcement.

Carahsoft will sell and market Splunk’s software to agencies at the federal, state and local levels as well as Splunk’s reseller ecosystem.

Splunk’s software facilitates big data management and security solutions in sensitive environments, Carahsoft President Craig Abod said in a release.

“The government faces a paradox today with massive streams of data, real-time mission requirements and shrinking budgets,” said Bill Cull, Splunk’s public sector vice president.

Cull added agencies use the firm’s software to analyze machine-generated big data and meet security and compliance standards.

Splunk said agencies use the software to index, monitor, analyze and visualize large amounts of valuable machine data generated by complex physical, virtual and cloud computing-based environments.

The software also creates a single viewpoint for investigating security incidents, Splunk said.
