Raytheon Patriot AMD System Gets Final Army OK; Sanjay Kapoor Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRaytheon‘s new Patriot Air and Missile Defense System has received the final stamp of approval from the U.S. Army following testing, the company announced Monday.

According to the company, the Army subjected the system to different electromagnetic and climate conditions during testing.

Warfighters and allies use the Patriot system to counter evolving threats and protect themselves in combat, said Sanjay Kapoor, vice president for integrated air and defense.

The company designed Patriot to defend against cruise missiles, aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and tactical ballistic missiles.

In late October, the Patriot weapon system took part in a Missile Defense Agency live-fire exercise in the Pacific, where the MDA also used Lockheed Martin-made missiles and radars made by both firms.
