Research In Motion is getting ready to launch a new mobile application store when Blackberry 10 hits the market, Information Week reports.
RIM has scheduled a Jan. 30 press conference to officially release BB 10 and its first set of devices, Eric Zeman writes.
According to Zeman, RIM says the new devices will be on store shelves within a month afterward.
RIM CEO Thorsten Heins told Reuters the company will deploy the app store by country and region, with about 200 to 400 apps per country.
Overall, Heins said, BB10 will launch with around 100,000 applications.
By contrast, Zeman writes the iTunes App Store had 500 when it launched in July 2008 and now has more than 600,000.
Blackberry 10 recently got approval for enterprise deployment into U.S. and Canadian agencies and RIM said agencies can put BB 10 into use as soon as it is launched.
