SAIC to Help NASA Run Aircraft Mgmt Software - top government contractors - best government contracting eventScience Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAI) will modify aircraft management software infrastructure and other flight crew operations systems for NASA, NASA announced Friday.

The company won a potential five-year contract worth up to $46.1 million if all options are exercised.

The three-year base period occurs between Nov. 19, 2012 and Nov. 18, 2015, with two option years that could extend the contract through 2017.

Under the Aircraft Management Information System program, researchers at the Houston-based Johnson Space Center developed software for tracking grounding discrepancies, inspections, aircraft configurations and crew flight status.

NASA says the software also provides users continuous and active control of materials, parts, and equipment; and provides data and metrics to support business decisions and financial reporting.
