Serco‘s U.S. subsidiary has won a potential $68 million contract to perform hardware integration and testing work for the U.S. Navy‘s digital network systems, the company announced Tuesday.

The potential five-year contract contains a one-year base period and four one-year options and the company said it will expand into a larger production facility in San Diego to perform the new work.

“We look forward to providing the engineering and integration services needed to support our Navy warfighters,” said Kent Brown, vice president of the engineering unit.

Serco will deliver a new configuration of the Automated Digital Network Systems for ship, shore and submarine systems.

Deployment of the system first occurred in 1997 to combine Internet Protocol traffic from different sources into a single radio path.

Goals of the project include updating ADNS to act as the tactical wide area network for Navy ships through the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services program.

The program aims to modernize the Navy’s shipboard local area networks.
