CGI to Build State-Based Health Insurance Exchange - top government contractors - best government contracting eventCGI Group Inc. will build a state-based health insurance exchange for citizens to determine eligibility and manage plans, Government Health IT reports.

Mary Mosquera writes the company won a a $53 million contract to build and maintain the exchange in Hawaii.

Coral Andrews, executive director of Hawai'i Health Connector, told the website the state opted for a state-based exchange over a federal system due to the state’s unique culture.

CGI will integrate the exchange’s infrastructure with the system used by the state’s department of human services to determine eligibility for tax credits and other state health subsidies.

The company also is working with the state of Colorado to build an insurance marketplace for consumers to determine eligibility and shop for plans.
