Cisco to Buy Carrier Service Mgmt Tech Firm BroadHop - top government contractors - best government contracting event

CiscoLogoCisco announced Tuesday it plans to acquire BroadHop, a provider of policy control and service management technology for carrier networks.

BroadHop's technology will be integrated into Cisco's service provider mobility group with the goal of helping service providers control, monetize and personalize the types of service they choose on any network.

The BroadHop team will join Cisco's service provider networking group under the direction of Shailesh Shukla, vice president and general manager of the software and applications group.

Cisco said the acquisition would be an extension of its collaboration with BroadHop and a step forward in supporting Cisco's Open Network Environment for network programmability.

BroadHop has been a Cisco service provider and Wi-Fi partner, Cisco said.
