DellLogoFormer Quest Software CEO Vinny Smith is no longer with Dell after the completion of Dell’s $2.4 billion acquisition of Quest, the Orange County Business Journal reports.

Chris Casacchia writes Smith was originally slated to serve as a consultant through March after the transaction closed.

Smith once owned more than 30 percent of Quest’s shares, worth around $800 million combined, Casacchia writes.

Dell wants software sales to exceed $5 billion as part of plans to diversify offerings beyond computers, according to the report.

Dell said it planned to integrate more than 1,500 sales personnel and 1,300 software developers from Quest into Dell’s existing software offerings.
