Cisco has introduced three new solutions to its connected grid portfolio to help utilities modernize, manage and improve everyday grid operations, according to a company statement.
Lionel Chocron, vice president and general manager of Cisco connected energy networks business unit, said the new solutions will attempt to aid Cisco partners in meeting grid modernization objectives by enhancing automation and security across their operations.
The offerings in the expansion include:
· utility operational network solution – operational network solutions for mission-critical grid monitoring and control systems.
· connected grid design suite – unified electrical and communications network modeling and design resources for rapid and reliable grid implementations.
· incident response and workforce enablement solution – integrated communication solutions to improve coordination between field personnel and enable faster service restoration.
According to Cisco, its connected grid allows utilities to better manage power supply and demand, improve the security and reliability of energy transmission and optimize operations.
