General Dynamics Canada has won a $32 million contract from Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide software to control the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance program“™s radio and satellite communications, RTT News wrote this week.
As part of the deal, General Dynamics will provide ruggedized computer workstations, voice over Internet protocol intercom systems and engineering support to help integrate its software with systems at Northrop facilities.
The AGS Communications Ground Control System, also known as CGCS, will manage the radio and satellite broadcasts for Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles. Operators located at the Sigonella Air Base in Italy will use the stoftware when it is implemented.
The AGS program is currently under development and General Dynamics Canada said it is looking at a November 2016 launch date.
