HP - ExecutiveBizHewlett-Packard has signed an agreement with a non-government organization to provide a patient data system based in a cloud computing environment, the Business Standard reports.

The Society for Health Awareness and Rural Enlightenment will use the system at an existing health center in India, which the Business Standard reports sees close to 20,000 people in 10 villages.

Medical equipment deployed at the center will be designed to connect to a cloud system and collect patient data for diagnosis, according to the report.

HP and Share’s India unit also plan to deploy similar systems in northeastern states of India and Rajasthan, Prashantha Reddy writes.

According to the report, patients will also communicate with doctors through a video conferencing facility and receive assistance from interns, paramedics and nurses from the MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences.
