Hewlett-Packard is launching a new training and certification initiative intending to help organizations get their employees certified in big data.
The company said the initiative, offered for the HP Vertica Analytics Platform, is for system administrators, database analysts and application developers that handle big data analytics.
“Our partners and customers are eager to complete a formal certification process that establishes their qualifications as big data experts,” said Byron Berk, HP Vertica for services and training.
Citing a Gartner report, the company said big data demand will affect 4.4 million jobs worldwide by 2015 and one-third of those jobs will be filled.
HP will run the new initiative through its HP ExpertOne program, which the company says offers certifications and training to more than 500,000 IT professionals in big data, cloud, converged infrastructure, networking, operating systems, security servers, software, solutions and storage.
HP channel partners, customers and employees have participated in that program.
