CloudNISTThe National Institute of Standards and Technology has released a draft proof of concept in an attempt to address security issues surrounding cloud computing and geolocation, Fierce Government IT reports.

Greg Slabodkin writes NIST created the document as required under the Federal Information Security Management Act and will accept public comment on the draft through Jan. 31.

According to the report, NIST wants to encourage cloud adoption via an automated hardware root of trust method, which Slabodkin writes would oversee geolocation restrictions for cloud servers.

NIST says geolocation is handled through management and operational controls that cannot be automated and scaled, according to the report.
