Report: France Supporting Anne Lauvergeon For EADS Chair Post

EADSlogoFrance is increasing its support for Anne Lauvergeon, former head of nuclear power group Areva, as the potential new chairwoman of EADS, Reuters reports.

An adviser to French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault told Reuters the government believes she is capable of acting as non-executive chairwoman of the aerospace giant.

The French government, which will hold a 12 percent stake in EADS under a new ownership structure, is choosing Lauvergeon and former central bank official Jean-Claude Trichet to represent France in the company.

Whomever is chosen to chair EADS will likely be French as long as German Tom Enders stays on as chief executive, according to the report by Emmanuel Jarry and Tim Hepher.
