ICSA-LabsA Verizon independent division, ICSA Labs, has been officially authorized by he Department of Health and Human Services to certify electronic health records, the company has announced.

“Now that we are fully authorized and accredited to certify and test technology meeting the permanent Meaningful Use requirements, we are officially open for business,“ said Amit Trivedi, ICSA Labs  health care program manager.

The new requirements, under the 2014 Edition, Stage 2 certification program, provide additional requirements for organizations providing EHR services such as strengthening of security, enhanced interoperability for facilitating health information exchange and better protection of private patient information.

ICSA conducted a week-long pilot program in December with four vendors that offer EHR-related solutions including Dynamic Health IT and Glenwood Systems, in order to receive the certification.

With ICSA’s authorization under the meaningful use requirements and  accreditation by the national voluntary lab accreditation program and the American National Standards Institute, they are now able to certify vendor’s electronic health records.
