BAE Systems has completed a missile defense test for its terminal high altitude area defense infrared imaging seeker, according to the Union Leader.
During the test, BAE’s THAAD weapon system engaged a medium-range ballistic missile target from a C-17 aircraft.
The Missile Defense Agency and Lockheed Martin conducted the test in 2012.
BAE Systems said the THAAD seeker has now engaged both short and medium range ballistic missile targets.
The defense technology is designed to defend soldiers, military assets, and metropolitan areas from ballistic missile attacks.
